I know this looks dumb and un-profound among these strong and eloquent sentiments, but I really think this phrase is life-changing if you truly live by it.
First, an explanation as I understand it. 'Less QQ more pew pew' is a phrase used commonly in online games like World of Warcraft. QQ is an emoticon of two crying eyes, and pew pew is the sound of a laser, or, in more cases, a catch-all term for any attack causing damage to the enemy. This line would be said, probably condescendingly, to a player who is endlessly whining about something instead of playing the game and killing the monsters. Essentially, what it's saying is, 'Stop complaining and do something about it.'
Something clear that The Glass Castle taught me is that resilience is important in life. Bad things are going to happen to you. They just are. Complaining and whining and crying aren't going to help you one bit. So, you had better find a way to fight back. You had better make the best of it.
I understand that people need to vent. I do. But past a certain point, I really think complaining is counter-productive. This is true even in the little things. For example, in high school, if I would have spent as much time doing homework as I spent whining about homework, I would have had nothing to complain about.
This phrase is catchy and immature and that's why I love it. When I start to feel sorry for myself, I think about this line. It cheers me up because it makes me feel like a little kid again.
